Småland is one of the most famous and interesting regions in Sweden. It has become famous, ultimately, through the multitude of great stories by Astrid Lindgren. But also the Kingdom of Crystal or the island of Öland as well as the beautiful nature and the peace and quiet.

Beautiful old towns:

Visit towns such as Eksjö, Vimmerby, Västervik or Oskarshamn, where you can admire old wooden houses and charming alleys.

Nature and lakes:

Enjoy the untouched nature, numerous lakes, the Baltic Sea and the island of Öland, all of which are nearby and offer many experiences.

Forests and wildlife:

Småland is known for its deep forests, fresh air, peace and quiet, mushrooms, berries and the opportunity to see moose in the wild.

Water sports

The region is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts with many lakes, rivers and the Baltic coast that invite you to swim, fish and go boating.

Golf:

Småland offers around 48 beautiful golf courses that can be played at affordable prices. The closest course is Tobi Golf Club in Vimmerby (approx. 30km)

Picturesque villages and farms:

Discover the typical red and white houses, wooden churches from the 13th century and original farms where animals are kept in a species-appropriate manner.

Excursions and activities: 

Organize trips to farms, enjoy free fishing in the Baltic Sea, take boat trips in the archipelago or canoe trips on the Emån.

Visit Katthult, the filming location of the Emil from Lönneberga films, about 10 km from Mariannelund. Here you can walk through the original buildings, pet animals and buy souvenirs, ice cream and drinks in the Katthult shop - a perfect day trip destination in Småland!

Leisure activities for the whole family:

Here fairytales come true! In Astrid Lindgren's World you can experience the locations and characters of her stories up close, such as Pippi Longstocking, Ronja the Robber's Daughter and Emil from Lönneberga. This open-air theater is one of the largest in Europe and a fantastic place for the whole family to romp and play.

Hiking and mountain bike tours:

Explore the extensive natural roads, hiking and forest paths through untouched nature.

Norra Kvill National Park:

A fairytale landscape with soft carpets of moss, impressive rocks and ancient spruce and pine giants awaits you in Norra Kvill National Park. Here you will find untouched forests that have been able to grow without human influence for over 150 years. Discover trees that are over 350 years old and spruces that reach up to 35 meters in height. A unique nature experience that takes you into a wild and pristine world.

Moose parks:

Visit the Målilla Moose Park, where you can see moose. There is also a petting zoo for our little holidaymakers.

Winter activities:

In the area there are several ski slopes and cross-country ski trails in winter, some of which are even illuminated, such as the "Dackestupet" area in Virserum (approx. 18km).
